Cleaners

On Friday the shopgirls hassled me and gave me a deadline of Monday morning (thus, I had ALL weekend) to finally post about the Cascade 2IN1 Action Pacs with the Power of DAWN that we received from a PR agent. A rep for Cascade wrote to the We Talk Shop feedback mail saying she would send us free samples (for each shopgirl) to try out. Right on we said! Right on!

I tried them first and have pictures to prove my efforts. I had let a cake dish crust over (before photo), put it in with a bunch of other nasty dishes, popped in one of the Cascade tablets into my Bosch dishwasher and waited for the results. Viola! The dish came our sparkling clean (after photo). Now, I have to admit, I am impressed with the Cascade tablet, but I love, love, love my dishwasher (that’s another post). I’ll have to let you decide if you think it was my dishwasher or the Cascade that did the trick.

What I do like about the tablets is that you don’t have to unwap the tablet before you pop it in the dishwasher. It’s individually sealed, but the entire thing goes in the washer and somehow evaporates with the washing. The package does instructions to not unwrap or punture the pouch, and to reseal the large bag after each use. Wonder if they dry up or something. I’m pretty lazy with stuff like ziplocking a bag. I’d rather just keep the bag open in the cabinet so I can just reach in and grab it.

OK, shopgirls, your turn.

Get it! I think they are about $3 something per bag of 20 pacs and you can find them anywhere.

Reach FlosserSame scenario…dentist every 6 months…guilt-inducing sighs from the teeth cleaner every time…”Ummm…now…your gums seem to be very irritated…are you not flossing regularly?” (hmmm…regularly is kind of a broad term…) “Well, I’m trying….sometimes I do forget.”

I try to be consistent with the flossing. But when there’s 6 months in between the inquisition and the daily “Man, I’m tired, I just want to go to sleep deal,” it’s hard to stay charged. Then along comes Santa to save the day. Low and behold, there’s a Reach dental flosser in my stocking. So we’re nigh on 6 months with this baby, and it’s time to go back to the dentist…pick-pick-poke-poke…loaded silence…”Have you been flossing regularly? Your gums look really good!” YES! I’m lookin’ good in the eyes of my dental hygienist — ain’t life grand?

So, I like this thing and you know what the trick is? You keep it in the shower and all of a sudden you’re not just standing there wasting water…you’re flossing! Daily! And it’s easy to hold and your fingers don’t get all goopy from drippy saliva, and they don’t have blood clots ’cause you wrapped the floss string too tight around your pointer! AND…they come in different colors, so it’s easy to tell which one belongs to who! And it’s easy to switch out the floss heads. So, I say go forward…buy…floss…smirk!

And wait….there’s a free sample offer on their website!

I recently tried the Spot Shot Instant carpet stain remover (WD-40 company is the one who makes this Spot Shotproduct). There was a bbq stain that was a couple of months old (I covered with a rug because I could not remove it) this product completely took the stain away. My son got sick the other night - this product is awesome - it took up pasta sauce stain (not to be gross) without any hard scrubbing.

Now I will warn you, there is a strong industrial type smell as the product is removing the stain - but it is amazing how well this product worked.

I use Tilex for my entire bathroom. It cleans anything and everything. It’s much like bleach but with a spray head. Although it’s much like bleach, do NOT mix with bleach! It becomes a toxic combination and yes you can asphyxiate and die. I had a friend do this once and ask why she felt dizzy. Indeed she had done just that. Also notice much like bleach, Tilex will ‘bleach’ out your clothes. So please, I beg of you. Do not wear your Sunday’s best or Monday’s best or any other day of the week’s best.

So remember when I say:

-Do not mix with bleach

-Do not spray near favorite clothing

-DO ventilate

I’m sure most of you were aware, but I wanted to add my 2 cents just in case. Hehehe

Happy Shopping!

Recently a friend of my dad’s gave me a futon chair (styled similar to Ikea’s Poang). Apparently it had been sitting in the deep recesses of their warehouse because the twill-like cushion was covered with light yellow spots. I don’t know what that yellow was, nor do I want to know, as I fear it could be some sort of insect droppings, but let’s not go there. My initial instinct was to hand the cushion over to dad to use as a new pet bed, but after researching the cost of replacing the cushion cover and/or cushion, I decided to try whatever household cleaning products I had to remove the stains. In my arsenal I found Woolite Oxy Deep Spot & Stain Carpet Cleaner. Completely ignoring the fact it was intended for carpet, I doused what little was left in the bottle on to the cushion and washed it on heavy-duty cycle. After the first wash, most of those unspeakable stains were gone.
