Stores

whole foodsI was driving to work the other day when I noticed a HUGE sign announcing a new Whole Foods store opening. It will be at Sand Lake and Turkey Lake roads, right off of I-4. A Spring 2008 opening is announced for this 50,000 square foot store.

Exciting stuff for those of us who like to shop there, but don’t have one close enough to our home. This should spread the wealth to the West side of Orlando.

Godiva Chocolate Price list saleI was at our local mall when I spotted that the Godiva store was having a 40% off sale. I apologize for the blurry photo, but that’s the list of prices for their sale items. There were a lot of chocolates on sale - most of them were the boxed sets. We purchased a box of milk chocolate truffles (medium size) that was priced at $16.80 (retail was $28.99). These sets would make an amazing gift, especially during the holidays! Although I’m not sure how long chocolates last, or how long you can hold out on NOT eating a box of Godiva chocolates!

Check out your local Godiva store for more information.

Recently, I went on a work outing to a most wonderous, magical place (sadly, I don’t mean Disney). ‘Twas the Spa Nails Tan Palace. Ahh yes, I can see it now. Conveniently located across from the Florida Mall at 1355 Sand Lake Rd, Orlando, FL, (mapquest it!) I stepped out of my car expecting a little hole-in-the-wall, plaza nail salon and to my surprise found a one-stop-beauty location. Spa Nails Tan Palace wasn’t just a nail salon. Oh, no…It included a glass enclosed hair salon and nail area, an open area pedicure area (of which contained a good 20-30 available stations at a time) and private rooms where waxing, tanning and massage services were offered. I walked into a plethora of leather recliners to choose from (and that was just the waiting area). Flat screened TVs lined the walls up high so customers could involve themselves in a good soccer game or see a good battle of “who’s more fabulous than whom” on VH1. Regardless my taste, I had a screen to watch. Better yet, I struck up convo with my service provider. Her name was Suysana. She was friendly, upbeat and fun to be accompanied with. She even managed to talk me through the foot scrubbing (as I tried with all my will not to squirm at my ticklish toesies). It was a place where I could relax alongside my hardworking peeps. I came for a pedicure, but left with the comfort and knowledge that I could always come back for more than just my toes. *Ten toes up*

Git there, or be square: $27 pedicure (group rate and $5 french manicure fee included; regular $25); Located at 1355 Sand Lake Rd, Orlando, FL

A few of the shopgirls were talking about DSW the other day so I decided to venture out there on my lunchbreak today. I walked down several aisles and found at least three pairs of shoes that I just had to have. I either find everything or nothing. Today I found everything. And, I didn’t even make it through the entire store. Problem was that I didn’t have enough money. Decision time.

I ended up buying only one pair of shoes, the sensible ones of the bunch. I needed some for work so I had to buy those first. I did stach one of my favorite pairs at the bottom of the pile (save the size nine’s, people!) in case I decide to return tomorrow. One of the pairs was the cutest, but I just couldn’t justify the purchase today. This week’s shopping priority is a new infant car seat. Gotta have something safe for the little one!

Today, I had the honor of being the first to tell the other shopgirls that IKEA is coming to Orlando. Shock, chills, goosebumps … oh, the excitement of *THE* I-K-E-A coming to our community. Yes, it appears to be true. No more trips to Atlanta, no more salavating at Plantation, FL for getting one. We, too, will be among the elite who can wake up on a Saturday morning and decide, at that very moment, to drive the short distance to IKEA. (We do love the Mall at Millenia location too.)
The shopgirls will no doubt be planning a day off for the official opening to shop and eat the IKEA meatballs (they are yummy).

Maybe we should put a countdown clock on the blog so everyone can anticipate the big day.
